Recently, we were inspired by Simon Sinek, author of “Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action,” to define the “why” behind our role as a CPA firm:

We’re here because business owners and governments need solutions to their challenges — not a commodity product. Through our dedication to teamwork, development and relationships, we will help our clients thrive.

The following is part of a series illustrating our “why.”

As many business owners can attest, growth often leads to difficult decisions. This was precisely the case for two business partners—our clients—who had, after establishing their business in 2010, experienced a stellar customer response over the past two years. They had several options for expansion, but they weren’t sure which was best for their business.

We first started working with the two business partners in November 2015 after their previous accountant had retired. Their business represents a fairly unique and seasonal business model, so we immediately got to work on revenue recognition solutions that helped them better determine their profitability. We also streamlined their accounting processes and systems and improved their financial reporting. The two partners reported saving “countless” hours on accounting tasks. With accurate, up-to-date information at their fingertips, they said they felt better equipped in making decisions, too.

One of the decisions they soon encountered centered on expansion. They had reached a point where significant growth was a possibility; however, they weren’t sure of the best way to get from point A to point B. What they needed, they told us, was a sounding board. In August 2016, we stepped in to fill this role.

As their advisor, we met with the two partners to vet ideas and work out the details of their strategic plan. Following the meeting, they were comfortable and confident enough with the plan to take the next steps.

It’s an exciting time for this business, and we’re honored to be a part of it. Helping clients forge ahead—it’s why we’re here.

Until next time,
