WEIGHT (IN OUNCES) OF THE LARGEST BASS SCOTT HAS EVER CAUGHT IN A TOURNAMENT.
Scott Mason, CPA
As a Business Partner, Scott helps family-owned and closely held businesses stay ahead of the game.
When Scott’s preparing for a fishing tournament, he carefully considers the season when choosing which tackle and techniques to employ. He knows the right approach—one that’s appropriate for the current water temperature, lighting and weather—can lead to a banner day.
A longtime CPA, Scott also knows how a relevant, well-thought-out approach can benefit a client’s business. “Businesses change,” he says, “which is why a solution that worked five years—or five months—ago may no longer make sense.”
Scott joined AEM through the firm’s 2014 merger with Baune Dosen & Co LLP. Giving family-owned and closely held businesses the tools needed to stay ahead of the game has been central to his practice for more than 30 years. Beyond tax preparation and financial reporting, he helps clients in all types of industries, as well as nonprofit organizations, overcome issues such as cash flow management, financing and budgeting, and tax, succession and estate planning.
Scott’s expertise has made a difference for his community, too. In addition to serving on his church’s finance council, he is a past city planning commissioner and a past chairman of the Minnesota Society of CPAs’ Financial Reporting Committee.
When Scott’s not testing his skills against a formidable fish, he’s often hunting with friends and family in Minnesota and South Dakota or traveling with his wife to a tropical locale.
